Janhendrik Dolsma studied at the Minerva Academy in Groningen from 1968 - 1973. During these years paintings of Dutch landscapes particularly interested him.
The sea with the beaches and dunes has been a source of fascination for Janhendrik as long as he can remember. Particular the North sea coasts of The Netherlands, with its wide beaches and its special silvery lights inspire him again and again. One will not find people represented on Janhendrik's paintings. He has tried, but realises that he prefers the landscape to speak on its own.
Works by Dolsma have been exhibited in The Netherlands, Germany, UK, Belgium and Taiwan. In 2008 he participated in a museum exhibition "The Dutch Landscape" in Palais Rastede in North Germany.
